The Culture Section is launching its annual Mentoring Program for 2021. Faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and other sociology scholars and practitioners are invited to participate. This program is designed to support connections and community within the section, broaden our intellectual networks, and provide support for the professional development of graduate students and early-career sociologists.
Graduate students and early-career sociologists will be matched in Mentoring Pods with faculty and other more senior sociologists who share their scholarly interests and career goals. The mentoring meetings will be held virtually and are meant to create sustained mentoring relationships.
Format: Mentors and mentees will be matched into small group Mentorship Pods. Once pods have been identified, participants will be connected over email. From there, mentors and mentees will introduce themselves and schedule a time to meet virtually. The Mentor Pod meetings format and agenda will be flexible based on participants’ interests and goals.
Sign up now: To participate as a mentor or mentee, please complete this Google form to share your interests and goals with our Membership Committee by Thursday July 15. The committee will use this information to create the Mentor Pods.
Questions? Please feel free to reach out to Blake R. Silver, chair of the Membership Committee, with any questions about the program at firstname.lastname@example.org.
